The teaser for Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie of the year, Dunki, which follows the success of Pathaan and Jawan, was released on Thursday, the day he turned 58. The highly anticipated Dunki teaser revealed the greatest glimpse of the movie to date, which is the first joint venture between Shah Rukh and director Rajkumar Hirani. Alongside Shah Rukh in the lead role in Dunki is Taapsee Pannu. The movie also stars Vicky Kaushal. The teaser for the film “Dunki” released!
The teaser opens with a group of black-clad men and women traversing a desert with a mark on their backs from a sharpshooter. He pulls the trigger, taking us back to the beginning, when it all started, with a group of Punjabi friends who aspire to work and eventually settle in London. These include Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, and two other friends of Shah Rukh Khan. Hardy, a character portrayed by Shah Rukh, swears to use all means necessary to get his friends to London.
Dunki is backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, Rajkumar Hirani Films and Jio Studios. Dunki will hit theatres in India on December 22. Dunki will clash with Prashant Neel’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire at the box office. The film stars Prabhas in the lead.
Last year, Shah Rukh Khan had spoken about the title of his upcoming film Dunki, and explained how it actually meant donkey. As he attended the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia in December 2022, Shah Rukh spoke about Dunki during an interview with Deadline.
“My film would be called Donkey, it is Donkey,” the actor had declared. However, some people in the nation pronounce donkey as “dunki” in India. The word “donkey” is pronounced “dunki” by Punjabis. How much of the story should I tell you? It was directed by Mr. Raju Hirani, one of the most talented filmmakers our nation has ever produced. Abhijat Joshi, a very talented writer, is the author. It’s the tale of individuals who long to return home. when the call eventually comes.”
The actor had further said about Dunki, “It is a comic film. His (Rajkumar Hirani) films are always a mix of comedy and a lot of emotions about the country. So, it is a big journey film, and the film goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home to India.”
