Actor Shakti Kapoor, who played a special role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, recently spoke out about the mixed reviews the movie is getting. Along with praising Ranbir Kapoor, the movie’s lead actor, as “one of the best actors in the industry,” the actor expressed his wish that late actor Rishi Kapoor could still be around to witness his son’s accomplishments.
The Raja Babu star claimed that since Animal became popular and is doing “great business” with people seeing the movie “again and again,” he is feeling “absolutely amazing.” He told ETimes that even if one is not watching Animal, there is “a lot of violence happening on the television and on OTT,” in reference to the misogyny and violence in the movie.
In defence of the movie, he claimed that rather than the violence in it, people are watching it because it features “some good performances.” “Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s work is amazing,” he remarked.
Shakti also opened up about how he wished that his good friend and long-time collaborator Rishi Kapoor was alive to see Ranbir score with his performance in the film. Shakti and Rishi have acted together in films like Yaraana and Prem Rog, among others. He shared Rishi’s relationship with his son Ranbir was “amazing” and that they both “loved each other”.
She also revealed that her family was close to Rishi and that when his daughter Shraddha Kapoor and his son Siddhant were young, the two families would go on holidays together. And now, after co-starring with Ranbir, he only wants “Chintu to live to see the success achieved by his son.”
Shakti Kapoor plays the role of a supporter of Ranbir’s character Ranvijay and a close associate of his family in Animal.
