Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’: Made on a Budget of Rs 85 Crore, Film Already Registers Profit of Rs 100 Crore, Reports Suggest

Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is scheduled for release on December 21. Should everything go according to plan, this could be the actor’s third hit of the year. Dunki is the first film that SRK and director Rajkmar Hirani have worked on together. A recent report claims that Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’: Made on a Budget of Rs 85 Crore, making it one of SRK’s least expensive releases in recent memory. The cost of talent, such as Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Hirani, and SRK, is not included in this Rs 85 crore cost.

According to a Pinkvilla report, Hirani was referred to as a “cautious spender” and the film was produced on a budget of Rs 85 crore. According to the report, Shah Rukh and Hirani made money off of the movie, and it cost about Rs 120 crore when print and publicity costs were taken into account. According to reports, Dunki was shot in 75 days, of which Shah Rukh spent 60 days filming.

The report added that Dunki has already sold its “non-theatrical rights” in “the range of Jawan”, which means the film is already “sitting on a massive table profit in the vicinity of Rs 100 crore.”

In contrast, the Rs 300 crore budget for Shah Rukh’s previous movie Jawan, which was also produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, was surpassed during production. Atlee stated at the movie’s success meeting that although Shah Rukh had approved a Rs 300 crore movie, they “went more.” But Jawan turned out to be the year’s biggest hit and the second-highest grossing Hindi film worldwide (after Dangal). Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that the movie earned Rs 640.25 crore nett in India and Rs 1160 crore worldwide.

Long before SRK scored consecutive hits at the box office, in April 2022, Dunki was first teased with a video. His two films, Pathaan and Jawan, have taken in over Rs 2000 crore at the global box office this year. Since Sanju, the biggest hit of 2018, Rajkumar Hirani has not had a theatrical release. Bollywood Hungama reports that Sanju earned Rs 342.53 crore at the domestic box office.
