Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards for the 2023, SCOOP! Karishma Tanna Wins Big In Busan Film Festival recognised Hansal Mehta’s Scoop as the winner in two categories.
For the Web series in which she portrayed Jagruti Pathak, a journalist based on actual reporter Jigna Vora, Karishma Tanna got the Best Lead Actress prize.
Karishma said she was “truly humbled and elated” by the Busan Film Festival’s appreciation of her work in response to her victory. The process of bringing Jagruti Pathak to life in Scoop has been amazing.
‘Big thanks to Netflix and Hansal Sir for giving me this chance and believing in me. The entire crew, who put in many hours to see this project through to completion, deserves this prize. I am incredibly appreciative of my fans’ constant support, and I intend to keep setting new standards and giving impactful performances in the future.
Karishma had said in a statement that this part was very important to her since “this character has so many dimensions. She is ambitious, driven, and shows great balance in her personal and professional lives.
She supports her family financially as a single, independent woman, and when she enters jail, the reporter turns into the reported.
Hansal Mehta expressed gratitude and said, “This is a really proud moment for us to have received this recognition for Scoop as the best Asian TV Series in Busan.” The show also won the greatest Asian TV Series award. Our endeavour to bring to life a tale that enthralled India has gotten a tremendous amount of love from people far beyond our borders.
This honour serves as a testament to Jigna Vora’s spirit. We wouldn’t have a tale if she hadn’t opened up to us. A special thanks to my co-creator Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, the diligent work of everyone who contributed behind the scenes, and the close cooperation between Netflix and Matchbox Shots.
“I’m proud of our outstanding cast and crew who have helped this show become what it is. I’m also glad that this timely cautionary story is receiving attention. No more critical moment could exist for the telling of this compelling tale of moral, ethical, individual, and journalistic hubris.
How does Hansal consistently get it right? He had previously stated, “All I look for are stories that don’t allow me to sleep, stories that I am compelled to tell.”
Hansal Mehta’s drama Scoop was adapted from Jigna Vora’s book Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison.
The show focuses on the compelling story of Jagruti Pathak, a crime reporter whose life changes after she is accused of killing fellow journalist Jaideb Sen.
It also features Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, Tanishtha Chatterjee, and Deven Bhojani in addition to Karishma. You may watch the show on Netflix.
