Bill DeMott, a former “WWE FCW” and “WWE NXT” trainer, lauded Roman Reigns’ hard ethic and commitment during his early years in the profession. Roman Reigns Never Complained During His Time In WWE Developmental.
DeMott, who worked as a trainer for Reigns in “FCW” and “NXT,” recently praised the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion on the “Developmentally Speaking” podcast. He claims he had no idea Reigns was a member of the Anoa’i family when he first saw him but was impressed by “The Tribal Chief’s” appearance.
“I had no idea who he was when I stepped in. I had no idea he was a Samoan, with whom I’d spent my entire career. I had no idea he was one of the sons, but you knew the moment you came into the room… jeez. I’m not sure if he’s any good, but he certainly looks the part.”
According to the former WWE trainer, Reigns never complained about his schedule while in developing, and he worked hard to become the star that he is now.
“I’ll say this: I’ve never heard him come in and publicly bi**h about his schedule — not because of who he is now, but because of who he was then.”
DeMott said that the stars who are now successful kept the course during their developmental years, even when it was frustrating at times.
Reigns signed with WWE in 2010 and spent two years in the company’s developmental territories — “FCW” and “NXT” — before being brought up to the main roster in 2012 as part of The Shield. Reigns had no pro wrestling experience when he joined with WWE, but both his father, Sika, and brother, Rosey, were wrestlers and members of the famous Anoa’i family, which has produced a slew of big-name performers in the industry.
