Lily-Rose Depp says her life is the opposite of Jocelyn in The Idol, recalls normal childhood with Johnny Depp

The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye, has been making headlines and circulating on social media since it was announced. At Cannes 2023, this HBO programme received a five-minute standing ovation. However, because of its violent nudity scenes and explicit sexual encounters, The Idol has drawn controversy.

Lily-Rose Depp discussed her role as Jocelyn in The Idol and how her childhood with her father Johnny Depp was very different from that of her character during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Lily-Rose Depp about her childhood

Lily-Rose Depp stated in the interview that her parents, Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, made an effort to provide her a “normal” upbringing. It was entirely different from the infancy of the actress’s character Jocelyn, she remarked. The back story for Jocelyn is that she has been working essentially since she was able to speak, the woman stated. She was a kid actress, and her upbringing was influenced by a mother who was really aggressive in that sense and really kind of bred her to be this trained performer. Definitely not my doing.

Although Lily and her brother’s lives were not entirely typical, their parents nonetheless made an effort to instill in them a sense of independence and normalcy. The Chanel brand ambassador continued, “Having grown up in this business, I can better understand Jocelyn’s perspective.” The Idol’s character’s self-awareness of not being relatable was also commended by Lily-Rose Depp. I’m referring to Jocelyn’s statement in the trailer for The Idol, “There’s nothing about me that’s relatable.”
