The project is released almost a year after Petras complained on Twitter that she lacked permission to release her album, which was then speculated to be called Problématique.

A number of previously released singles are included on Feed the Beast, including the chart-topping Sam Smith collaboration “Unholy,” which made Petras the first openly trans artist to win the Billboard Hot 100. The album also includes “brrr,” which was released in January, and “Alone,” which was released in April and features Nicki Minaj. Additionally, “Coconuts,” which was released in December 2021.
Kim Petras recently discussed how she co-wrote every song on the album in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. “I play with this image of being this spoiled brat who gets everything handed to her, but it’s not like I go into the studio and someone cooks me a song,” she remarked. “I went in with Max Martin; he will assist you and provide you with his perspective. However, you’re still spouting garbage in an attempt to put something together.
