The morning of April 11, Bollywood received a very devastating news. Shiv Kumar Subramaniam, a popular cinema actor and screenwriter, passed away last night. The reason behind Shiv Kumar’s death is still unknown.
The actor, who began his career as a writer with Parinda in 1989, went on to appear in a number of films and television shows. Parinda starred Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Nana Patekar, and Anupam Kher, among others, and was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
The entire film industry has been mourning the loss. Journalist Beena Sarwar responded to his passing by retweeting Bollywoodirect’s tweet regarding his death.
Beena Sarwar described the news as gutting. “Incredibly tragic, esp as it happened just two months after the passing of his and Divya’s only child – Jahaan, taken by a brain tumour 2 weeks before his 16th birthday.” she wrote.

While the actual circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown, filmmaker Hansal Mehta issued a message on social media. The announcement also gave information about the funeral, which will be held in the city on Monday morning.
The statement announcing Shiv Subramaniam’s death stated, “With profound and heartfelt grief, we wish to inform you of the passing of one of the most dignified and noble souls to inhabit human form – our dearest Shiv Subrahmanyam. Incredibly talented, he was much loved and revered personally as well as professionally.”

Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, the political drama for which Shiv Subramaniam wrote the original story and screenplay, earned great reviews and was screened at 12 film festivals in six months.
Shiv had played the lead in Colors TV’s serial Mukti Bandhan, where he was seen as businessman IM Virani. Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Nail Polish were two of his more recent roles. Some of his other films include Rocky Handsome, Ungli, Kaminey, 1942: A Love Story, and 2 States.
