Twenty years ago, the film American Pie introduced viewers to a cast of eccentric people and perfectly depicted the awkwardness and horniness of adolescence. Finding out where our favorite American Pie stars are now and what they look like?
The filthy comedy, which Paul Weitz directed, was released on July 9, 1999. It centres on a group of high school boys who are motivated to lose their virginity before the end of their senior year, and it follows them as they engage in different sexual follies.
The ensemble cast included Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Natasha Lyonne, Tara Reid, Eugene Levy, and Jennifer Coolidge.
The R-rated Universal picture, which made more than $235 million worldwide on a $11 million budget, inspired three more films: American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012).
Seann William Scott (Steve Stifler)
Scott portrayed Steve Stifler, a noted party-thrower when his mother is away who is known for his crude, obnoxious demeanour. The actor went on to star in films including Old School, Cop Out, Role Models, Road Trip, The Dukes of Hazzard, Mr Woodcock, and Dude, Where’s My Car after landing his breakthrough role in American Pie. In the animated Ice Age films, he also provided the voice of Crash. On the third and last season of Fox’s Lethal Weapon, Scott replaced ousted actor Clayne Crawford as Wesley Cole.
Tara Reid (Vicky Lathum)
Vicky thinks like Kevin is only with her for sex and battles with the pressure to sleep with him as his girlfriend. Reid acted in films including Josie and the Pussycats, Van Wilder, and My Boss’s Daughter after her days of portraying a virgin struggling with important decisions were ended. On Scrubs, the actress played Danni in a recurring role. Reid has acted in the Sharknado TV movie series since 2013.
Thomas Ian Nicholas (Kevin Myers)
Because he wants to surrender his virginity to his love Vicky (Tara Reid), Kevin is the de facto leader of the movie’s group of male friends and has a big hand in the sex pact’s development. Nicholas was a kid star before he played Kevin and is likely most recognised for playing the lead in Rookie of the Year. Following his role in American Pie, the actor went on to play Todd Marsh on the TV show Party of Five and to appear in films including Halloween: Resurrection, The Rules of Attraction, Stealing Sinatra, and Walt Before Mickey.
Mena Suvari (Heather)
Suvari portrayed the naive choir girl that Oz ultimately falls in love with and breaks the sex vow for. American Beauty, a popular 1999 movie, was the actress’s follow-up to American Pie. Her other film roles include appearances in Sugar & Spice, Rumour Has It, Factory Girl, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, and Becks, as well as a reunion with Jason Biggs in Loser. Additionally, she has made appearances on television programmers like American Woman, South of Hell, Chicago Fire, Clarence, American Horror Story, and Clarence.
Chris Klein (Chris “Oz” Ostreicher)
Oz, a character played by Klein, intends to lose his virginity to the pious Heather (Mena Suvari), but instead falls love her and abandons the sex agreement entirely in order to be with her. Klein acted in films such as Here on Earth, Rollerball, Just Friends, We Were Soldiers, and Benchwarmers 2: Breaking Balls after American Pie. He has appeared on shows including The Flash, Wilfred, TRON: Uprising, and Welcome to the Captain, among others.
Alyson Hannigan (Michelle Flaherty)
When Jim takes band nerd Michelle Flaherty to prom, her sexually aggressive side is revealed, leading to the creation of the catchphrase “This one time at band camp.” Michelle Flaherty is mostly ignored by the student body. Hannigan continued to play Willow Rosenberg on Buffy the Vampire Slayer after American Pie until the show’s cancellation in 2003. Prior to playing Lily Aldrin on How I Met Your Mother for nine years, the actress made guest appearances on episodes like That 70’s Show, King of the Hill, Veronica Mars, and Rugrats. In 2003, Hannigan wed Alexis Denisof, her co-star from HIMYM and Buffy. The couple has two daughters.
Jason Biggs (Jim Levenstein)
Biggs portrayed the awkward and naive Jim Levenstein, who pursued Shannon Elizabeth’s character, Nadia, a foreign exchange student, while avoiding his father’s unsolicited counsel and having sex with apple pies. The actor played leading roles in comedies from the early 2000s such as Boys and Girls, Loser, Saving Silverman, and Anything Else.
The films Prozac Nation, Eight Below, Jersey Girl, My Best Friend’s Girl, Wedding Daze, and All at Once are among his other productions. Biggs’ career has spanned both film and television, with appearances on Orange Is the New Black, Mad Love, and I Like You Just the Way You Are. From 2012 to 2014, he provided Leonardo’s voice in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon series.
Shannon Elizabeth (Nadia)
Jim had a crush on Elizabeth’s character, Nadia, a seductive exchange student from the former Czechoslovakia who frequently used a webcam in embarrassing situations. Following her role in American Pie, the actress went on to star in a number of comedies and horror films, including Jack Frost, Thirteen Ghosts, Curse, and Night of the Demons. Elizabeth, who competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2008, no longer performs any acting, but she maintains busy running a non-profit animal rescue organisation in Cape Town, South Africa, that she co-founded.
Eugene Levy (Mr. Levenstein)
Levy went on to star in films including Best in Show, Josie and the Pussycats, Serendipity, including Mike, Bringing Down the House, A Mighty Wind, Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and For Your Consideration after portraying Jim’s goofy and uncomfortably funny father. Additionally, he provided the voice for animated films including Finding Dory and Over the Hedge. Levy performs Johnny Rose on Pop’s Schitt’s Creek at the moment.
Natasha Lyonne (Jessica)
Lyonne played Jessica, a sexually experienced woman who aids Kevin in better appeasing his partner in bed. The actress has made appearances in films like Slums of Beverly Hills, But I’m a Cheerleader, Detroit Rock City, Scary Movie 2, Kate & Leopold, and Girl Most Likely since her brief part in American Pie. Lyonne has also had notable TV appearances, including parts on Portlandia and Orange Is the New Black. She now appears in the Netflix original series Russian Doll, and this fall, she will co-star in Shia LaBeouf’s autobiographical drama Honey Boy with Lucas Hedges.
Eddie Kaye Thomas (Paul Finch)
Finch, who plays the nerdy but smart “nice guy,” develops a slight rivalry with Stifler and, more memorable, has an intimate relationship with Stifler’s mother. Thomas appeared in the TV series Brutally Normal, Off Centre, ‘Til Death, How to Make It in America, Scorpion, and American Dad after American Pie. Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler’s Mom)
Coolidge portrayed the seductive cougar mother of Stifler, who wooed and bedazzled Paul Finch. The actress has acted in films like Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde 2, A Cinderella Story, Click, Soul Men, Gentlemen Broncos, Austenland, and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day since she first played the Mrs Robinson of the Millennial generation. With co-starring roles on Joey, Nip/Tuck, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Fish Hooks, Gravity Falls, and 2 Broke Girls, in addition to guest roles on Friends, Glee, Party Down, The Closer, According to Jim, and Sex and the City, Coolidge has had a tremendous television career.
