Aamir Khan’s New Film Announced!

Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was appreciated by the critics but failed at the box office. It is noteworthy that recently he had said that he will not act for a few years because he wants to spend time with his family.

In such a situation, Aamir Khan is producing a new film named ‘Lahore, 1947’ under his production company AKB (Aamir Khan Productions). Aamir Khan is not acting in this film. It is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi starring famous Hindi actor Sunny Deol.

Aamir Khan released a statement on the announcement saying, “AKB and I are very happy to announce our next film. Happy to collaborate with my favorite director and profound acting talent Sunny Deol. The journey of this outfit has begun to provide quality images. We seek your blessings.”

“We look forward to collaborating with the immensely talented Sunny, and one of my favourite directors Raj Santoshi. The journey we have embarked on promises to be most enriching,” the statement read.

The project will mark maiden collaboration between the two actors, who have previously worked with Santoshi on separate projects.

While Deol has starred in Santoshi’s blockbuster hits such as “Ghayal”, “Ghatak”, “Damini”, Khan has worked with the filmmaker in cult comedy “Andaz Apna Apna”.

Sunny Deol is coming off the stellar success of his latest release Gadar 2. The film collected more than ₹525 crore at the box office and for just one day, became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India of all time after beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan. However, Shah Rukh’s latest release Jawan knocked it off the top spot just a day later.

Sunny and Aamir have never worked together before this. But the two have had a few iconic box-office clashes as competitors in the past. The first clash at the ticket window was witnessed in 1990 when Aamir Khan’s Dil and Sunny Deol’s Ghayal released on the same day. Then in 1996 it was Raja Hindustani vs Ghatak followed by the most epic box office clash of Indian cinema in 2001 when Lagaan released on the same day as Gadar.
