Actor Jay Johnson charged with involvement in January 6 Capitol riot

According to court filings, Jay Johnson, an actor on “Bob’s Burgers,” “Arrested Development,” and other shows, was accused by the Department of Justice for Actor Jay Johnson Charged for Capitol Riot Involvement.

Johnson was detained in California on Wednesday, according to NBC News, which broke the story. In addition to misdemeanour charges, he faces felony obstruction of officers during a civil disorder.

The FBI released a photo of Johnson in a crowd of rioters at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and wanted information on his identify in March 2021. The DOJ identified Johnson in court documents based on various photographs of him taken on cop body-cam footage, bystander video, and CCTV feeds. On Capitol grounds, Johnson was wearing a green camouflage neck gaiter and a dark leather jacket. He and other protesters used a stolen Capitol Police riot shield to form a “shield wall” and push at officers.

Johnson worked as a writer and actor on “Mr. Show,” which starred Bob Odenkirk and David Cross in the late 1990s. He appears in 28 episodes. He featured in ten episodes of “Arrested Development” as police officer Taylor. In addition to “Moral Orel,” “Mr. Pickles,” “Momma Named Me Sheriff,” and “Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole,” Johnson appeared in other Adult Swim animated shows.

Other shows in which he has appeared include “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “Better Call Saul,” “Community,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Rick and Morty,” “Modern Family,” “The Sarah Silverman Programme,” and others.
